Creating and building a business in your local community can be an exciting way to earn a living. However, even if people do know you– you still have to brand and market your company well in order to acquire business. It takes time and effort (on top of the work you already do with your business) but it will be all worth it when your business grows.

Focus on what you do…and do it well

If you fix computers, do accounting work, own a cleaning company–what ever company you have focus on providing exceptional services or producing excellent products. It’s tempting to just start pouring in money into marketing–but what good will it be if you haven’t put in the time to actually build your company?

If your company has a good reputation people in your community will talk. If you are honest, reliable, and provide decent services word-of- mouth will spread. It’s then you can solidify your branding and marketing to the community.

Be truly involved in your community

Become a community leader! Be synonymous with being helpful, caring and a community-builder. Find ways to contribute–whether it be through volunteer work, collaborating, or just help when the time arises. You are your brand and if you reflect positive traits–your brand will too!
