1. Is it Up-to-Date?

If you haven’t looked at your resume for a while then it’s time to pull it out of the drawer and get it up-to-date. Simply add key performance information or job promotions to your resume. Keep your language positive and focus on what you have accomplished (and not what you haven’t.)

2. Clean Format

Microsoft Word typically has several fresh resume templates you can utilize to give you a clean format. Find one that can is conducive to your industry and experience. If you haven’t revised your resume in a while, a new resume look is just what the doctor ordered.

3. Coverletter Update

You definitely have accomplished a lot since you last looked at your resume. However, don’t overlook your coverletter! You can keep your existing one however up date it to focus on key accomplishments at your current job.

4. Using more Power words

A quick scan through your resume may reveal one marred from your past. An easy yet effective editing practice is adding ‘power’ words to your resume. These are words that strengthen and build a more inspiration story about you to potential employers. Some words can be: Cost-cutting, team-building, trouble-shooting–brainstorm a few ‘power’ words that speak about your personality, experience and brand.
