Money. Success. Professional growth. Quality of Life. There are many things that motivates us and determines our goals. Some of us know clear-cut know what motivates us especially when it comes to work. You may be a parent and your focus is to go to work to pay bills and buy food/maintain a roof over your head–all for your family and kids. That is strong motivation. However, as the kids grow and move out what’s your motivation then? You have reached another phase of your life and things change.
What’s motivating you right now?
The whole point of presenting this scenario is to get to think that sometimes we have immediate motivations which does not allow us to truly find our motivations deep inside us. When you start to think about it you may realize that your hidden motivations can really be acted upon. They have been buried for so long that you might not know where to start.
A career coach is a good idea
A career coach is a professional with the right tools and strong knowledge to help you find your motivation and act upon it. Do a quick Google search and you will see that career coaching isn’t regulated, but there are many reputable career coaches with successful track records. You need to find the one that you think can help you. Call around and schedule information meetings. Ask questions and learn as much as you can before you commit to one. However, a good career coach knows if they are the right coach for you and will say so during the course of your consultancy.
It’s up to You
Once you have unlocked your motivator it is up to you to act upon it. No one including the career coach is responsible for your success only you. Your coach can provide all the tools and direction in the world but if you don’t have that desire to change it won’t happen.
Motivation will help you be successful
If you know what pushes you, drives you–you will be unstoppable. It will be like laying the foundation of a home before the house is built. Motivation is what you build your success career on. Happiness will come as a result as well as other opportunities.
