These days a lot of our information can easily be acquired through the internet. However, books are still an essential part to our learning dynamic. If you are out discovering a new career or compiling more information on how to conduct a proper job search–books hold many of these answers. It is imperative then that spending some time in the library or bookstore sometime soon will be beneficial to you! Here are several book topics to get you started on rediscovering the power of books in your career development and job search:

Resume/Coverletter

These books are very helpful because they give you visual and physical examples of resumes and coverletters. These books are typically compiled and written by either professional resume writers, Human Resource Managers or any professionals related to career development. There are many books on this topic so pick a few that might relate to your field of choice or highlight sections of more general resource books.

Industry-specific

There is a slew of books that relate to any and every industry under the sun that offers excellent information for your career development. Whether you are on radio, construction, logistics–there is a book out there that will give you ample stats and info about that industry that you want to learn more about.

These books can offer some solid career knowledge albeit being general. They sometimes include tests to help you find a suitable career, resources and lots of information from professionals in HR, recruitment, and management. Be sure to reference the books and other invaluable resources they might have in the bibliography.

General Job Search Tips

These books are loaded with information dealing with an array of sub-topics related to your job search. They include: tapping the hidden job market, prepping for interviews, learning more about the job market etc. Although you might have a few subjects in mind be sure to try popping into the career section of your library or bookstore and simply look through the selection–you never know what might catch your eye!
